Day 1 - Introduction to the Mac

Students will learn the basics of using an Apple computer and internet basics.

Morning
• Topics covered include setting up computer preferences, working with files and folders, Dashboard utilities, and saving and opening files

• Lunch: Students take a lunch break and participate in outdoor activities

Afternoon
• Topics covered will include Using Safari to browse the internet, using iChat for video and audio, How to use Google, and a review of some fun educational websites that your children will love



Day 2 - Picture Perfect with iPhoto

Students will learn the basics of Digital Photography including managing, editing and printing photos.

Morning
• Topics covered include connecting a camera and downloading photos, organizing and sorting photos, making albums, editing photos and adding special effects

• Lunch: Students take a lunch break and participate in outdoor activities

Afternoon
• Project session where students will design their own greeting card or calendar page with their photo on it, and print it in-store to take home

Day 3 - Be a Star with iMovie & iDVD

Students will learn the basics of Digital Video including editing footage and burning DVD’s.

Morning
• Topics covered include connecting a video camera and downloading clips, creating a project, editing footage, special effects and adding titles

• Lunch: Students take a lunch break and participate in outdoor activities

Afternoon
• Project session where students will record a video, edit the footage, add special effects and titles, then burn a DVD to take home



Day 4 - Rock and Roll with GarageBand

Students will learn the basics of Digital Music including recording, editing and burning a CD.

Morning
• Topics covered include connecting a microphone and guitar, recording sounds, adding loops, editing audio and adding effects

• Lunch: Students take a lunch break and participate in outdoor activities

Afternoon
• Project session where students will record their own voice and use it to make a song in the style of their choice, then burn it to a CD to take home

Day 5 - Homework is Fun with iWork

Students will learn the basics of creating Documents and Presentations in iWork.

Morning
• Topics covered include templates, adding text, formatting text. working with images, page layout, and preparing files for print

• Lunch: Students take a lunch break and participate in outdoor activities

Afternoon
• Project session where students will create and print a newsletter about the week’s activities, complete with photos and descriptions of all the fun they had with Macs & Carbon Computing!
